Terms of Service for VaultCatch
Effective Date: March 1, 2026
Welcome to VaultCatch. By downloading, accessing, or using the VaultCatch mobile application ("App") and website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
1. NOT A PRIMARY NAVIGATION DEVICE (CRITICAL SAFETY WARNING)
VaultCatch integrates third-party map data, including NOAA Electronic Navigational Charts (ENC) and OpenSeaMap, to provide tactical maps and coastal bathymetry for fishing planning.
HOWEVER, VAULTCATCH IS NOT A CERTIFIED CHARTPLOTTER OR PRIMARY NAVIGATION DEVICE.
- You must never rely solely on VaultCatch for real-time boat navigation, avoiding underwater hazards, depth verification, or collision avoidance.
- Map tiles, markers, and depth contours may be delayed, inaccurate, or incomplete.
- You are solely responsible for your own safety on the water. Always use official, certified maritime navigation equipment and visual confirmation when operating a vessel.
2. Weather and Forecasting Accuracy
VaultCatch provides 7-Day Trip Planning, Live Conditions, Solunar phases, and Fish Activity Scores powered by third-party APIs (such as Open-Meteo).
- Weather and marine conditions are inherently unpredictable. Forecasts are estimates, not guarantees.
- We are not liable for ruined trips, damaged gear, or dangerous situations resulting from reliance on the App’s weather, wind, pressure, or tide data. Always check local, official marine weather broadcasts before heading out.
3. Data Storage & Risk of Loss (The "Offline" Reality)
VaultCatch is proudly a 100% offline-first application. This means your Catch Vault, custom gear, and saved locations are stored locally on your physical device.
- We do not back up your data to the cloud. We cannot recover your data if you delete the App, lose your phone, or if your device is damaged (e.g., dropped in the lake).
- It is your sole responsibility to regularly back up your data using the built-in "Export Data (CSV)" feature in the Settings menu. We are not responsible for any loss of your fishing logs or secret spots.
4. Lawful and Responsible Fishing
You agree to use VaultCatch in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws.
- The App does not grant you permission to trespass on private property, fish in restricted waters, or ignore local fishing regulations.
- You are solely responsible for knowing and obeying local catch limits, slot sizes, and licensing requirements.
5. Third-Party Services
Our App relies on external APIs and services (e.g., Nominatim for search, Open-Meteo for weather, NOAA/Fastly for marine charts). We do not guarantee the continuous uptime, accuracy, or availability of these third-party services. If they experience an outage, certain features of the App may be temporarily unavailable.
6. Intellectual Property
All original content, features, and functionality of the App (excluding user-generated data and third-party open-source data) are owned by VaultCatch and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, VaultCatch, its developers, and its founders shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, gear, vessels, personal injury, or death, resulting from your access to or use of (or inability to access or use) the App.
8. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after any such changes constitutes your consent to the new Terms.
